Privacy policy

Last updated 12 September 2026

PoulCheck is a poultry health screening and training service for farmers in Nigeria. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what we will never do with it. We handle personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

What we collect

Why we collect it

Who sees it

Your case is seen by our team and by the veterinarian reviewing it. We do not sell your data, and we do not share anything that identifies you or your farm with feed companies, hatcheries, drug sellers, government agencies or anyone else. Aggregate and anonymised information, for example how common a condition is in a state during a month, may be published or shared. Nothing in it can be traced back to a single farm.

Where it is kept

Data is stored with our hosting and messaging providers, including Supabase and WhatsApp (Meta), on servers outside Nigeria. They process it on our instructions only. Media files are stored privately and are not reachable by a public link.

How long we keep it

Your cases and the photos attached to them are kept for 24 months after your last check, so a vet can see the history of your farm, and then deleted. A recorded vet call is kept for 12 months and then deleted. If you asked us not to record, we write notes instead.

If you agreed to let your cases improve PoulCheck, we keep a de-identified copy of the photo and the vet's verdict with no link to you, your number or your farm, and that copy stays in our training set. You can send STOP TRAINING on WhatsApp at any time and we will stop using your cases from then on. Teaching we have already finished cannot be undone, and the service works the same either way.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Message the word DELETE to our WhatsApp line or email us, and we will act on it within 30 days. You can leave the waitlist at any time the same way.

What this service is not

PoulCheck is a screening and education service. It does not diagnose, prescribe, or replace a licensed veterinarian. Any advice we pass on is guidance for you to act on with your own vet.

Contact

Questions, requests, or complaints about your data go to John Chinedu Enechukwu, who handles data questions for PoulCheck, at privacy@poulcheck.xyz. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
